Keep assigned areas clean, tidy and orderly. Will involve general cleaning, disinfecting, sweeping, dusting, dust and wet moping, stripping and waxing, vacuuming; trash removal; thorough restroom cleaning, sinks, toilets, urinals, floors, walls, ceilings, baseboards, maintain paper products; keep entry glass clean, unlock all entry doors, remove snow from entries and shovel walks to main walks, set up various meeting rooms as needed. Notify appropriate B&P office of need for repairs. Required Qualifications: Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color. General to Buildings and Properties High School diploma Must possess and maintain valid driver license and undergo successful driver background check and employment background check Must have ability to use computer for communications, time entry, scheduling access, product research & online trainings Capacity to handle confidential and sensitive information with utmost discretion and tact required Ability to multitask Demonstrated ability to give and receive feedback, communicate, listen, respect others, set priorities and achieve them, and use time effectively Must be highly motivated and exhibit innovation, good judgment and reliability in the work place Work with other staff as a member of a team to resolve issues and achieve common goals Provide and promote service to internal and external customers Demonstrate ability to express thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrate effective listening skills Show initiative, anticipate needs, and take action; adapt to changing priorities, situations and demands Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with a wide range of internal and external customers Custodian Specific Training beyond High School diploma or GED, with six months or more custodial experience. Ability and experience to operate all types of Custodial equipment and tools. Ability to follow procedures, methods and products used to ensure compliance with departmental procedures and safety standards. Must wear proper protective equipment as directed. Must be able to adapt to changing priorities, situations and demands Must be able to work under pressure with a great deal of initiative. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects Sound judgment, good reasoning and decision-making skills, good record keeping and ability to work with diverse personalities. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with a wide range of internal and external customers Must have demonstrated ability to handle sensitive/confidential material in a professional manner. Knowledge of basic computer applications. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in unfavorable weather conditions. Must be able and willing to periodically work outside standard schedule. Preferred Qualifications: 2 or more years of custodial experience in all aspects of janitorial work.
