Technical Communicator II

Summary of This Role
Responsible for writing technical copy for various operation and maintenance manuals and technical publications. Prepares outline of contents and written text. Coordinates layout and organization of manuals and other documents. Interprets necessary data, drawings, and specifications through research and liaison with technical staff. Requires working knowledge of organization product line(s), customer requirements, purpose and structure of document, and user's level of understanding.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver a range of simple to complex technical content while demonstrating a clear understanding of multiple subjects. Responsibilities include analyzing, researching, and effectively communicating content for publication for clients and team members. Other responsibilities include providing peer reviews for authors and researching client feedback. Knowledge development, supporting colleagues, and mentoring new authors are key elements for this role.

We are looking for a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of authoring and publishing content. This job is a fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position. Core competencies include being results oriented, customer and relationship focused, an effective communicator, a critical and analytical thinker, and an excellent planner and organizer. Basic skills and knowledge required: subject matter expertise; advanced and highly proficient in multiple software products and technologies; able to dissect and transfer knowledge of complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Typical Day in the Life of the Role:
A day for an author could involve reviewing multiple projects, researching technical sources, learning new subject areas, authoring bulletins and manual updates, providing peer reviews, or collaborating with internal business partners.
What Part Will You Play?
? Research and interview business and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to generate original product and solution-based/technical content for our clients.
? Collaborate with development team to create and streamline functionality and develop user-friendly educational content and reference material to illustrate how clients will benefit from the enhancement or solution.
? May test and validate complex products and services from the users perspective by accessing the online test application during the planning phase. Work through scenarios to anticipate what problems a typical user would face and determine what is applicable when developing procedures and solutions.
? Create, assimilate, and convey business and technical material and difficult concepts in a concise, effective manner and easily understood formats including tables, graphics, scenarios, bulleted lists, videos or animated graphics.
? Present draft business and technical educational content and reference material to users, gather input and suggestions for improvement. Research gaps with SMEs, and provide detailed business, technical and creative edit and solutions for final content.
? Provide persuasion through consultative-focused writing and interaction with users to explain how best practices and new enhancements will benefit them.
? May develop, simplify and customize complex interactive training content from source material including adding scenarios, assessments and workflows. Gather feedback and consult with users on how to best manager information and answers questions from users.
? Direct and manage complex multiple projects, resources and timelines. Report on the status of assignments.
? Provide input and writing of best practices, process, style guides and templates used globally.
? This is an hourly role with a compensation range between $24-$26 per hour.
What Are We Looking For in This Role?
Minimum Qualifications
? High School Diploma or Equivalent
? Typically Minimum 2 Years Relevant Exp
? Writing and communications. Specifically, analyzing, defining, strategizing, structuring and managing content.
Preferred Qualifications
? Bachelor's Degree
? Technical Communications, Business, Liberal Arts or other related field.
? Finance Industry.
