Are you a seasoned Database Administrator ready to take on a dynamic role that blends expertise in Oracle and SQL Server? We're in search of a strategic and collaborative Senior Database Administrator who thrives in optimizing database environments for peak efficiency. You will responsible for supporting a current blended environment of Oracle and Sql Server but will have a focus on the former. You will will collaborate with peers, internal customers, and management to strengthen the consistency, performance, efficiency and standardization of databases in our IT infrastructure services environment to achieve operational excellence and program success. While this position is an individual contributor role, collaboration, strong technical knowledge and skills, and mentoring junior DBA?s will be essential attributes.
Some Of The Day To Day Duties
Responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, administration, and performance & tuning of database hardware and software
Provide leadership and training to more junior Database Administrators.
Perform monitoring of the DBMS systems.
Proactively tune the environment for applications to run smoothly and quickly and prevent outages.
Lead the logical and physical design of the database, including triggers, indexes, dimensional design, capacity planning, assist with and author and maintain stored procedures.
Work closely with the application development teams, project teams, and lead database team to lead the design of the most efficient data structure for the
environment (transaction processing, OLTP, statewide data usage, etc.)
Provide an enterprise-wide expert perspective while leading, coordinating and performing conceptual, logical, and physical data design.
Provide senior level response to service request tickets and solve associated database issues.
Senior level creation and support of nightly, weekly and monthly maintenance plans. Provide mechanized reporting for successful nightly plan completion.
Provide senior level support for database and table recovery; communicating required information to other state agencies.
Ensure backups are available for recovery according to SLC (Service Level Contracts) and for disaster recovery.
Provide work direction to other team members to support maintenance and design.
Desire to seek out new technologies and trends that would be beneficial for the Database Services Team to implement and support in the future.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights
A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.
This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or
education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Database Administrator within an Oracle and/or SQL Server environment.
Must have Cloud Services experience ( AWS and/or Azure)
Must have DevOps experience.
Substitutions
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
DevOps experience integrating database deployments into CI/CD pipelines.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Conditions Of Employment
OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.
Supplemental Information
If this posting indicates ?remote from anywhere in CO? in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.
While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
