Overnight Emergency Department Medical Scribe (Experienced)

This position is for those who have received formal medical scribe training and have previously served as Medical Scribes in the Emergency Department. Please do not apply unless you meet this criteria.

Medical Scribes and Clinical Information Managers (CIMs)/Scribes will assist Emergency Medicine (EM) physicians with various administrative aspects of patient care in the Emergency Department, under the direction of EM physicians. These administrative aspects include assisting with recording the EM physician medical record documentation (electronic or paper) of patient history, review of systems, physical exam findings, progress notes, procedure notes, follow-up of laboratory and diagnostic results, arranging and expediting consults, and assisting with recording the documentation for patient admission, transfer or discharge plan and follow-up. CIMs will work closely with EM physicians assigned to the department and will be part of emergency medicine team.

Positions are available at the following locations:

  • Corona Regional Medical Center (Corona, CA)

Training is ~90 days and you will be paid for training hours:

2-3 weeks in the classroom / Zoom (mandatory)

~9 weeks in the Emergency Department

Training dates to be determined.

Work hours will include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional differential pay for overnight shifts.

Duties & Tasks CIM/Scribe:

Under the direction of EM physicians: Assist physicians in charting (electronic or paper) by recording the documentation of an accurate, concise, and complete patient history and review of systems based on patient-physician interactions, recording a physical exam based on a physician?s dictation, accurately transferring lab and radiology results from the electronic system or as dictated by physicians, radiologists, or other emergency department staff, recording progress or procedures notes, clinical impression, plan and follow-up.

Under the direction of EM physicians: Assist physicians in managing patient flow by notifying them when the results of laboratory or diagnostic studies are available.

Monitor charts to ensure timely completion including history, physical exam, review of systems, labs, diagnostic studies, ECGs, initial assessment and plan, progress notes, procedure notes, impression/diagnosis, discharge plan with disposition, and signatures. Send incomplete charts back to the appropriate physician(s) as needed.

Under the direction of EM physicians: Assist in recording the documentation of patient admission, transfer, or discharge plan and follow-up.

Under the direction of EM physicians: Communicate with other hospital personnel through face-to-face conversations, paging, phone calls, and e-mails.

Navigate electronic records to retrieve previous medical records, prior labs results, etc.

Administer patient surveys as requested.

Assist supervisor with other administrative duties as needed.

Assist with the training of new Scribe / CIM hires as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Schedule:
