The Opportunity WSDOT is seeking a part-time administrative professional to serve as a Receptionist and to be the first point of contact for the WSDOT Customer Service Desk at Headquarters. This position requires a personable, dynamic, and customer-focused individual who can project a positive image of WSDOT to the public. As the Receptionist, you must be at the agency's forefront and act as a liaison between the people and the department.
In this role, you will provide first-class customer service while working with all types of personalities, either in-person, by telephone, or e-mail. What to Expect Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Receptionist will: Multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks throughout the day.
Review and assist internal customers in scheduling conference rooms. Conduct research using the agency's Intranet, the Internet, and department-related information sources to obtain response information. Greet, sign in issue visitor badges, and direct walk-in visitors to the appropriate offices.
Receive and evaluate telephone questions with either a direct answer or route inquiries to the proper staff for resolution. Assist with inputting data from customer comment cards into a database for the Incident Response Office. Schedule, assist, and screen users of conference rooms in Headquarters buildings.
Maintain and supply ferry schedules, newsletters, and miscellaneous brochures for public distribution. Check the Hotline database to be sure the information is accurate and correct. Provide administrative assistance to other offices/departments as needed.
Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required: High School Graduate or equivalent. Two years of clerical or administrative experience. Ability to function effectively in a fast moving in a demanding fast-paced and sometimes stressful work environment.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have: Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Teams) Important Notes This position is not eligible for remote work. This is a part-time schedule opportunity (5 hours per day, 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Monday-Friday); however, may require flexibility to cover your teammate's shift when needed. In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position.
For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28 of the Washington Administrative Code. WSDOT does not use the E-Verify system, therefore we are not eligible to extend STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT).
