Please take a look at this exhilarating video to learn about us! http://vimeo.com/853786020/eb63308cce Position Summary The Quality Manager & Master Blender is responsible to oversee the formula development and blend composition for the Pernod Ricard Jefferson?s distillery in accordance with all quality, regulatory & legal requirements. The Quality Manager & Master Blender will also be pivotal in making recommendations regarding barrel quality and maturation. This position is also responsible to assist in the development of new products and subsequently direct the activities of new liquid innovation consistent with PRUSA strategic objectives by working collaboratively... with Marketing/Sales, Procurement, New to Market, Bulk, Third Party spirit customers and Production departments. The Quality Manager & Master Blender will also oversee all laboratory operations, sensory programs, analytical compliance, and work closely with the production department and report all quality parameters. They will work with the Production and overall pillars to support and implement HACCP/ISO initiatives. The role will have leadership responsibility, with quality technicians reporting into the position. They will also have brand advocacy responsibilities to support the founder, which will require the ability to present our PRUSA whiskey brands to customers, clients, and other events as needed. 10-20% of the role will be brand advocacy, and the balance will be technical. Key Responsibilities Expert on whisky and whiskey flavor characteristics, wood maturation process, including comparative knowledge/appreciation of global whiskeys Familiar with market trends and developments both internally and competitively. Assist in ensuring that quality is maintained or improved via wood management control. Ensure whisky and rum formulas maintain consistent standards from year to year by monitoring the aging process and modifying blends as necessary Generates and maintains formulations and product specifications Notes databases for Whisky, bulk and blend items and communicates to Operations Review all regulatory and legal requirements and ensures compliance for all products. Assists Operations and Bulk Planning / contract distillation teams on blend / bulk quality issues Liaise with Marketing/Sales, New to Market and Bulk on liquid product development ensuring robust processes in place to support commercialization Liaise with customers to support contract distillation, bulk sales, and single barrel selections Evaluates formulas for possible value engineering opportunities Provide marketing and consumer samples upon request Participates in daily production sensory panels and expert level sensory panels Supports other AWC/NA sites for sensory and analytical as needed - QUALITY Leads and sets the direction for the site quality program Ensures program compliance and the effective implementation of and verification of activities relating to all formula, GMP?s, hygiene procedures and HACCP program Coordinates complaint investigation, root cause analysis and timely follow-up to customer complaints Creates new procedures and instructions with regards to laboratory testing and equipment calibration Conducts & coordinates training for operations staff Supports/leads Total Quality Management including implementation of HACCP & ISO initiatives - SAFETY Supports and participates in the Pernod Ricard Safety Culture initiative and LIFE program, ensure that safety concerns are addressed in a timely manner. Responsible for ensuring all employee follow PPE requirements and abide by all safety guidelines outlined in procedures and work instructions. Responsible for reporting all accidents, incidents, and near-misses immediately. These would include all non-disabling and disabling injuries and occupational illnesses, fatalities, fires, and explosions, property damage, chemical spills, and any incident having the potential for property damage or personal injury. Ensures that investigation and corrective action occurs in an efficient and timely manner. Identifies & implements improvements and/or appropriate closure to corrective actions. - LEADERSHIP Supports the site ambition as part of the site leadership team and American Whiskey Collective representation Manages up to two quality technicians, ensuring they are embedded into the safety and quality culture of the site, and encouraging engagement and cross-functional knowledge in the spirit of the site culture Required Skills & Abilities Knowledge of ISO and Food Safety Experience in Distillation, Blending & Maturation process Experience with lab equipment and function and organoleptic testing. Familiar with instrument analysis Strong interpersonal/influencing/problem solving skills Proven leadership and team building skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Superior organization, time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong interpersonal skills / able to speak directly with consumers and customers in a ?selling? function Passionate about the whiskey industry Education Required: University Degree or College Diploma in food science/chemistry focused Preferred: Master?s Degree Experience Required: Minimum 5 years experience in aged spirits industry Preferred: 3-5 years minimum in whiskey industry Working for Pernod Ricard USA means creating great company every day. The salary range for this role, based in Kentucky is $112,200.00 to $154,200.00, range will vary if outside of this location. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate?s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.
