Production Manager II
Job Summary
Flavor Manufacturing Apopka?s (FMAp) Production Director leads the manufacture and planning of flavours to our Company?s network of concentrate plants. This role ensures FM?s mission is accomplished throughout the daily activities taking place at the Apopka, Florida operation: ?Flavor Manufacturing guarantees the continuous supply of cola and other proprietary flavors of... unquestionable quality, while promoting a culture of safety, supporting innovation, creating value and protecting the Company?s most valuable trade secrets?.
Main Responsibilities:
The Director of Production will oversee all aspects of 24/5 facility production operations for The Coca-Cola Flavor Manufacturing plant in Apopka, Florida. The incumbent will lead and mentor the entire operations team to drive performance as well as focus on continuous improvement to contribute to the design, development, and execution of an operating model. This is an onsite role. Below is a breakdown of the main responsibilities:
Overall plant responsibilities
? Prepare department budget along with short- and long-term operations strategy in line with site goals and objectives.
? Prioritize operations urgencies and drive excellence.
? Establish and follow routines to meet daily production targets for 24/5 facility.
? Prepare departmental costs and variances with regards to productivity, short and long-range planning, labor scheduling, product scheduling, raw materials, packaging supplies, product weights, sanitation, and housekeeping.
? Manage Production Managers who are accountable for production staff and employees from other departments in the off shifts.
? Organize and facilitate production area activities to ensure conformance to establish requirements regarding quality, safety, environment, food safety, employee- relations, productivity and cost scheduled volume outputs.
? Responsible for employing, training, supervising, disciplining, and the discharging of the employees in the department as per company guidelines and policies.
? Reviews inventories and production plans with the Material/Scheduling planner. Develops production and efficiency reports.
? Coordinates schedule demands with staff and product movement personnel.
? Responsible for the equipment and people performance including efficiencies, losses, waste, and yields.
? Manages the product processing and packaging areas from receiving raw materials into Production area to finished product, including CIP systems and sanitation of areas.
? Accountable for 3rd party audits/results as well as internal programs compliance and audits
? Reviews product and equipment specifications to ensure conformance to product specifications are realized.
? Reviews all nonconforming product or ingredients with Technical Department and prepares a plan to drive progress to short term and long-term improvements.
? Monitors department throughout shifts and assure employee compliance with GMP?s, sanitation, environment, safety, and other company requirements.
? Ensure supervisory and hourly coverage needs are met when needed. Perform the duties of a supervisor when needed. Ensure cross training and skill pool to meet the needs of the business.
? Perform training needs analyses, as appropriate, and initiates, develops, and/or coordinate the implementation of specific training and development programs for staff and associates.
? Continually analyses and reduces equipment downtime, usage losses and cost of production. Drive root cause corrective action for issues and continuous improvement in performance
? Responsible to meet plant targets related to Safety, People, Quality, Environment, Service, Productivity, Cost, Savings, Projects etc.
? Work with Production, Planning, Maintenance, Warehouse, Customer Service, Transportation, Product Development, Suppliers, Engineering, Quality, HR/LR, Associates and other related departments/teams in finding innovative ways to improve Performance of the site, and ensuring plant and company goals are met.
? Lead and/or support capital and OPEX projects.
? Work with leadership to develop and execute annual business plans to support business growth and performance.
? Support Employee involvement in Safety, Analytical Problem Solving, Project Planning, Vendor and Customer Relations, fostering a Team atmosphere.
? Participate in the ISO, GMP, FSSC, KORE and other internal audits and own the actions to drive improvements for development of procedures and corrective actions.
? Travel to other sites in the Coca Cola system as needed.
? Perform other duties as necessary and/or assigned.
Regulatory and Policy Compliance
? Ensure the plant complies and follows Company policies, standards, and guidelines in all aspects of the operation such as safety, quality, environment, Good Manufacturing Practices, financial reporting, information protection, Code of Business Conduct, KORE, etc.
? Guarantee the plant complies and follows United States of America (USA) and Florida state governmental and regulatory requirements (e.g. safety, environmental, financial, tax, work rights, FSMA/FDA, EPA etc.)
? Make certain compliance with applicable regulations and requirements established in ISO standards Quality (ISO 9001) and Food Safety (FSSC 22000) standards. This also includes religious requirements (e.g. Halal, Kosher).
? Ensure compliance with common management system requirements in Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001), Environmental (ISO 14001) standards.
Manufacturing activities supervision to ensure:
? An accident-free environment and zero-accident culture is prevalent among the plant.
? Work related hazards are continuously assessed and follow-up with corresponding preventive actions.
? Root cause analysis and corrective actions are formally completed for incidents and accidents.
? All manufacturing activities always guarantee unquestionable quality practices.
? Ensure compliance to company?s guidelines for food safety and quality standards to ensure products are produced following those standards to provide high quality beverages to our customer.
? High levels of good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety and food protection practices.
? Key manufacturing activities are properly standardized, documented and followed up accordingly, to diminish process variability.
? Productivity improvement initiatives through equipment and/or processes modifications are developed and executed.
? Efficient, defect and waste free production methods are followed.
? Co-product generation and sales to external third parties are processed and managed accordingly.
Capability Building
? Ensure internal training programs are frequently updated and followed up consistently.
? Continuously reinforce technical and leadership development through courses, short term assignments, workshops, toolkits, etc. to support individual growth and organizational build out.
? Formalize a succession planning process and people development forum to identify high potential talent and achieve solid bench strength in the different functional areas.
Culture and Engagement
? Nurture a high performing workforce where team members can develop their full potential within a high trust and positive working environment.
? Ensure guiding principles are ever present to reinforce desired organizational behaviors, empower the workforce and facilitate decision making. Be a role model of those behaviors.
? Develop specific plans to address any culture & engagement gap to guarantee sustainability of the desired organizational culture.
? Keep the operation informed of the current business plan progress through different means (e.g. townhalls, emails, newsletters, etc.)
? Ensure 1-2-1 meetings are regularly done by people managers throughout the year with all personnel.
Educational Background
? University bachelor?s degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Industrial Chemistry is required.
? Master?s degree is considered a plus.
Experience and Critical Knowledge
? Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a multinational organization?s manufacturing facility or in a similar supply chain role with progressive senior positions.
? Minimum of 5 years? experience as head of operations/manufacturing function and a member of manufacturing plant leadership team.
? Demonstrated ability of managing cost and productivity performance across a variety of products or product portfolio.
? General skills will include setting and executing strategic direction, planning & organizing, negotiating, building business relationships and communicating widely.
? Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
? Knowledge of supplier fulfilment capabilities to meet customer and internal requirements.
? Ability to build system capability and capacity to ensure service is provided effectively, timely and efficiently.
? Long and short-term planning. Organizing, leading change, influencing and communicating widely.
? Food processing or pharmaceutical planning experience.
? Quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001), Food Safety (FSSC 22000, FDA, FSMA) experience and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) application.
? Demonstrated interaction with senior managers (Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, etc.).
? Demonstrate ability to sustain high people engagement.

? This position requires making and support managers making key business decisions that could have a major impact on the organizational performance, both in the short and the long term.

? Jointly manage with HR hiring, termination, suspension, performance reviews processes.
Supervision
? This position is expected to directly or indirectly supervise a team of approximately 30 people who execute the plant?s day-to-day activities. This might include temporary or outsourced personnel as well.
? Completing performance appraisals/development plans, rewarding and disciplining team members is also part of this job?s duties.

? Performance gap resolution including analysis and quick implementation of specific actions that could generate an impact in the mid-long term.
? Propose courses of action for raw materials and finished product inventory levels issues and gaps.

? Internal interactions: FM?s SVP, plant?s leadership team (Production, Logistics, Technical, Engineering & Maintenance, Finance, IT on a daily basis). Operation?s supervisors and plant associates.
? External interactions: Corporate?s business partners, FM Wexford and FM Atlanta business partners, IQD Laboratory, Strategic Ingredient Supply, Flavor System & Ingredient.

The position is based in Apopka, Florida. Business travel seldom occurs.
