What you?ll be doing...

Responsible for overseeing the transition of edge applications to cloud based architecture; drive the evolution and deployment of edge applications, with an emphasis on finding and developing better ways to automate recurring work effectively; provide engineering leadership and direction to optimize applications and drive issue... resolution; work closely with all application owners and vendors to ensure the achievement of end-to end service performance metrics; provide leadership and drive troubleshooting teams made of infrastructure vendors and Verizon Wireless teams towards resolution of application issues and outages; recommend system modifications or enhancements to improve application performance and quality; develop and refine application and infrastructure test plans; provide leadership and subject matter expertise to the team; initiate and manage projects for network builds, modifying configurations, refining designs, and troubleshooting issues/analyzing problems; manage multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure budget limitations are met; lead FOAs, and support HQ proof of concept initiatives including new application turn-ups / instantiations; help realize Verizon?s 5G vision by actively working in 5G using Cloud Native technologies in an OpenStack private cloud deployment model on the Edge Applications Team; contribute by way of (a) Project planning, (b) Vendor relations, (c) Engaging with leadership on various technical issues, and (d) Rolling out new software and patch updates as and when needed to maintain the 5G deployments; work in a multi-vendor environment on Verizon?s MEC (multi edge network); and assist in understanding of business problems, problems-to-solve, and business priorities to make sure the team?s focus and work priorities enable the delivery of business objectives.

What we?re looking for...

Bachelor?s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or in a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or as a Systems Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Software Engineer, or in a related/similar position. Experience therein to include 5 years in the following: Cloud, telecom and network engineering; Networking; Virtualization; and Leading FOAs (First office applications) and Supporting POC initiatives (proof of concepts). Telecommute role, may work remotely from anywhere in the US.

RATE OF PAY: $137,585 ? 177,000 /per year
