About The Role
We're seeking passionate and equity-minded educators to join our tutoring community as independent contractors. As a tutor, you'll play a pivotal role in closing the early-learning gap, engaging directly with K - 8 students in live, synchronous, online tutoring sessions. We prioritize diversity and aim to build a team of tutors that reflects the rich tapestry of students we serve.
You'll facilitate online reading or math sessions for small groups of 1 - 4 students. You'll utilize our comprehensive learning platform and curriculum, guiding you through lessons and providing real-time insights into student performance. Building consistent relationships with the same students each week fosters an environment conducive to student learning and growth.

Your ability to tailor teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and needs is exceptional, and you consider it a privilege to be present in your students' lives.
Your strength lies in building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds, valuing and incorporating their cultural assets, knowledge, and experiences into tutoring sessions. Challenges are met with a growth mindset; you're resourceful, flexible, and resilient in navigating obstacles and setbacks, whether they be technical glitches or academic hurdles.
An engaging and dynamic educator, you possess the knack for re-engaging students who may become disinterested or stuck during lessons. Celebrating students' progress and empowering them to build on their strengths is at the core of your teaching philosophy.
Technologically savvy, you're adept at leveraging technology to enhance learning experiences. While not necessarily an IT expert, you're comfortable troubleshooting tech issues and navigating multiple platforms simultaneously.
Qualifications And Requirements
Passion for working with K - 8 students from diverse backgrounds
Teaching or tutoring experience preferred; however, we welcome newcomers to the field who meet our minimum requirements
Minimum Qualifications Include
3+ years of teaching or tutoring experience
OR 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience coupled with a bachelor's degree
OR 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience alongside current enrollment in a teaching credential program
Enthusiasm for teaching reading and/or math
Comfort and experience with online tutoring and technology usage
Eligibility to work in the United States (US citizens or residents)
Job Details
Location: Remote
Compensation: $18 - $22 per hour, with potential for bonuses
Schedule: Consistent weekly tutoring contracts available year-round; contracts are seasonal
Curriculum: Utilize our proven technology platform to guide lessons and monitor student performance in real time
