Position Overview: The Non-QM Underwriting Team Lead assists in maintaining underwriting standards and best practices for specified programs and directs the Underwriting team to ensure that assigned program underwriting results are consistent with established guidelines. The Non-QM Underwriting Team Lead maintains an understanding of Non-QM guidelines, and manages workflow, providing customer service. Job Responsibilities: Underwrite Non-QM loans as needed. Responsible for reviewing team performance, service level agreements (SLA), data integrity, and turn time reports; allocating resources to meet goals and communicating needs to Underwriting Manager to identify any additional training. Identify processes and procedures to meet goals. Review and re-underwrite test case loans for Underwriters in training in events of overflow/volume. Review all finalized researched quality control data from all sources and determine training needs; develop and implement training as needed and required. Track and answer overflow e-mails and phone calls regarding underwriting loan scenarios. Provide guidance, direction, and leadership support to the Underwriters. Assist Underwriting Manager with other tasks as needed and required. Assign new loan files and monitor loan reports for underwriter assignment, assigning the tasks and daily work for each underwriter. Work with and oversee each underwriter?s conditions for capacity with the Underwriting Coordinators. Attend management team meetings with the Underwriting Manager, assess information compiled and distribute as necessary. Monitor and maintain acceptable Service Level Agreement (SLA) for turn times, customer service, and accuracy. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor?s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience with guideline knowledge, preferred. 5+ years of underwriting supervisory experience, preferred. Encompass LOS experience is a plus. Working knowledge of Non-QM requirements. Knowledge of compliance and disclosure requirements. Excellent communication and organization skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
