We are a passionate team working together toward a sustainable future, solving high-impact problems that have never been solved before. By delivering everyday flight for everyone, we're making it possible to spend less time getting there and more time being there. If you want to be part of shaping the future of mobility, then read on!

We are looking for a Flight Operations Manager to join our team. The goal of the Flight Operations Manager at Wisk is to lead a team that is building the future of aviation towards our operational approvals as a US Part 135 Air Carrier. You will be part of the Wisk Airline team, reporting to the Director of the Wisk Airline and manage the US based airline team as part of a wider global operations team. You will assist the Director of the Airline to maintain a global focus between the US and APAC and continue to develop the operational capability of the airline.

This is a remote role in the US with a preference within the Pacific Time Zone.

Why we need you:

The successful candidate is a highly motivated and self starter who has experience operating in the aviation sector and in an operational environment. The candidate will be expected to be hands-on, developing new procedures, guiding the development of manuals and autonomous systems for our autonomous and multi-operator system. In addition the Flight Operations Manager will work closely with the Wisk Operational Validation team, validating new Airline procedures, techniques and skills, as well as oversee the Flight Operation simulation and software development. This is not an engineering role: but an understanding of engineering processes is an advantage. This is an operational role where your past experiences, out of the box problem solving skills and understanding of aviation regulations will help to define, create, build and grow an entirely new aviation industry.
In this role, the candidate will have a demonstrated experience of working well in a framework of ambiguity, where you will be expected to resolve complex regulatory and operational challenges on a daily basis. You can expect to work long hours across multiple time zones and often with short timelines. This role will start with managing a small team and evolve into a leadership role within the Airline managing multiple teams.
The successful candidate will be expected to engage with regulatory agencies such as the FAA, as well as represent Wisk at Industry events related to flight operations. The candidate ideally has experience with either a Part 121 or Part 135 Air Carrier in an operational capacity and/or has flight experience.

What you will do:

As part of the Wisk Part 135 Airline, you will act as the US Flight Operations Manager, helping in the development of the Airline team and the US Part 135 elements needed to be successful for Wisk entry into services in the USA.
You will take part in the development of operational procedures, training development, manual and procedures writing, as well as Operational Validation activities necessary for the development of operational excellence for autonomous aircraft.
You will support Wisk?s Global Partnerships team with technical expertise as well as the development of third party relationships for Vertiport Operations, Providers of UAM Services (PSUs) and Communication providers in the US. You will oversee the development of industry Requests for Information/Proposals (RFI/RFP) and lead the US Airline team establishment of contracts with emerging AAM industry infrastructure, airspace, communication and other providers.
In conjunction with the Director of Wisk Airline, you will lead the US based Wisk Airline team in technical matters with the Wisk OEM to ensure the aircraft design and maintainability is fit for purpose. You will work closely with the certification and test and evaluation team to assist in the Wisk certification efforts where necessary, and you will establish an Autonomous aircraft training center in the US.
In conjunction with the Director of Airline you will help coordinate go to market strategies with the Wisk Global Partnership and Go to Market team as well as link closely with Finance in relation to meeting financial objectives.
You will assist the Director Wisk Airline in strategic planning for US entry into service and manage multiple lines of operations.
You will also work closely with our Airline software development team to develop our autonomous air operation flight planning and maintenance software as well as booking systems and operational turnaround software: an understanding of the software development process is desirable but not essential.
When Wisk Airline commences operations you would be expected to undertake senior Operational duties inside the Flight Operations center managing commercial operations, or undertaking instructional duties, and/or working in the Airline Corporate HQ.
The Senior Operations Manager role will work closely with the Part 135 Director of Operations, Director of Maintenance and Chief Pilot, in the development of all of the above objectives.

What you have done:

You have worked in various management roles as well as technical roles in the Aviation industry. You have been exposed to or lead teams involved in the development of technical manuals, operational procedure development and/or Part 135 or other airline related activities.
You have hands-on experience with flight operations, including the conduct of operational validation activities that have resulted in actual outcomes: you will be able to provide examples of these and how you contributed to their outcomes.
You have a good understanding of complex airspace regulations, especially as they relate to instrumented flight rules and you will have an understanding of where airport and airspace regulations may need to be amended to allow Autonomous aircraft to operate. You are also familiar with the concept of one-pilot-to many-aircraft flight operations and how these can be applied from a remote flight operation center to achieve a commercially viable number of flights.
You have led teams who achieved operational outcomes focused on actual field experience: you value doing and have an outcomes based approach to deliverables.
You have an advanced degree, and a demonstrated ability for critical thinking and resolving complex problems.
You are familiar with US FAA Part 135 operations as well as US Part 91, 61 and 43.
You are familiar with US FAA Part 145 and the role the MRO plays in supporting an Airline and you are familiar with the role of the OEM versus the Airline.

Who you are:

You are a highly motivated, self starting individual with a broad set of skills and never afraid of facing complex technical challenges
You are a solution oriented individual with a strong operational mindset and value delivering outcomes; less time getting there and more time doing it!
You have strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communications to suit the audience
You can adapt quickly or propose changes needed to achieve early results in a timely fashion
You embrace challenges and take commitments and deliver results within reasonable expectations
You are a positive team player
