Job Description Summary The Executive Director provides leadership for all aspects of the Center for Private Business, a membership-driven center founded to support and serve privately held companies by providing access to industry leaders, resources, networks, and education. The Center currently encompasses 220+ member-companies, 20+ sponsor-companies, and more than 50 individual volunteers from across North Carolina who are collectively invested in the belief that private companies are the backbone of both our economy and our community. Responsibilities of the Executive Director include setting a vision for the Center, and creating a collegial and innovative environment in which a focused team of staff collaboratively develop strategies, implement programming, and effectively manage administrative functions to sustain and grow membership. They work closely with colleagues in the Wake Forest School of Business, and across the larger University, to seek mutually beneficial opportunities that both enhance support for Center members and further the goals of the University Strategic Framework. They engage in financial planning and fundraising to ensure the financial sustainability of the Center. They represent the Center and are charged with leveraging, maintaining, and building upon the strong existing network of advisors and supporters. Job Description Essential Functions: Major Tasks and Responsibilities Set the short- and long-term vision for the Center, develop a strategic plan to meet that vision, and oversee implementation of the plan in a collaborative and innovative team environment. Manage, mentor, and build a trust-based working environment for the Center for Private Business staff. Raise local, regional, national and global visibility of the Center by representing the CPB at membership events and key industry conferences and events. Establish and manage a financial plan that enables the strategic plan, including daily budget management, short- and long-term budget forecasts, and the creation and implementation of a fundraising plan. Serve as the primary relationship manager for and lead stewardship of the portfolio of existing and prospective member companies, including strategy to recruit and retain Center members. Cultivate and secure sponsorships to support the work of the Center. Provide leadership and overall direction for Member Programming and the Forum Program that supports the Center?s vision and strategic plan. Develop and maintain a robust and inclusive network of industry thought leaders, University faculty and staff, and community members who can expand and enhance the impact of the Center on its members and the larger academic and business community. Responsible for oversight of all administrative functions. Other Functions: Leverage and manage partnerships with third-party vendors for strategic functions including marketing and communications. Manage volunteer committees and groups including CPB Advisory Board. Ensure the maintenance of a cohesive marketing strategy consistent with Center and University brand standards. Responsible for oversight of all human resources needs and functions. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Bachelor?s degree plus five or more years of experience. Ability to establish and achieve short- and long-term budgets. Ability to create and implement an effective fundraising plan and strategy. Ability to travel as required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills. Ability to cultivate and steward relationships with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community. Ability to foster teamwork and cooperation in a work environment. Experience in database management and maintenance. Ability to supervise and train staff, volunteers, and student workers, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments for these individuals/groups. Skill in fiscal management.
