Development Manager
About Us
Concrete Jungle (CJ) forages, farms, and supports food access across Georgia. To achieve that mission, our...
team harvests and distributes excess produce from fruit trees and farms, grows food from our own farm, and
provides nutrition education resources. We envision a future where all communities are well nourished in a
world with no food waste. As of December 2023, Concrete Jungle has distributed over 2 million pounds of fresh,
nutritious food. Click here for a summary of CJ?s main programs.
In the past 14 years we have grown from a grassroots, volunteer-led initiative into a small but impactful nonprofit. As a 501(c)3 organization, we engage in fundraising and donor cultivation to financially support the work that we do. Concrete Jungle has a diverse funding stream, receiving contributions from foundation and corporate grants, government awards, individual donors, and earned income activities. CJ has recently experienced exponential growth, as evidenced by our annual budget which has grown from $135,000 in 2019 to just over $1 million in 2024.
About You
Concrete Jungle is seeking highly skilled and diverse candidates for our full time Development Manager role,
dedicated to achieving annual fundraising goals through successful acquisition and growth of grant funding,
corporate donations, and individual giving. For this role, we need someone who is passionate about the fine
details of day-to-day development functions; ruthlessly committed to managing deadlines; and enjoys the
strategy required to build donor relationships.
In this role you will be responsible for managing a wide variety of daily development activities, from coordinating
donor relations and grant management, to the administrative components of CJ?s fundraising work. You will
serve as the project manager for our development efforts, working behind the scenes to ensure timely execution
of all activities necessary for engaging our network of funders. While you will occasionally write funding requests
and engage directly with funders, we?ll look to you to create and implement systems and processes to make the
development machine operate more efficiently.
This is a critical and fulfilling role - one where you will play a key part in securing the support needed for CJ to
execute and expand our mission work. You will work closely and collaboratively with our Executive Director and
be supported by our Board Development Committee, Development interns, and a Development consultant. As
Concrete Jungle continues to grow our impact across the state, this position will have opportunities for growth.

? Develop content for donor communications

? Work with Program staff to ensure execution of grant requirements and track impact data
? Work with Operations staff to submit expense reports, including government grant reimbursements
Assume responsibility for CJ?s development operations, including database maintenance.

? Identify relevant donor data (first-time gift, increased or decreased giving, etc.) for the Development team as opportunities to engage with donors
? Conduct routine data clean up and database process improvements
? Create comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholder as needed
? Work with Operations staff to ensure consistent income processing and record keeping between Network for Good and QuickBooks
? Engage with the Development Committee, attending meetings and providing support on committee projects

follow-through on all facets of your work. You demonstrate a great level of personal responsibility for
achieving results, define broadly what is within your control, and are exceptionally optimistic about what
is possible. You take initiative to do what it requires to achieve success.
? A meticulous creator: You have a deep commitment to accuracy and an impeccable eye for details. You?re someone who is excited and comfortable to find a path where none yet exists, to identify new solutions to persistent challenges, and to locate your agency in getting something done, even when it might initially seem like you?re at the whim of other factors.
? Flexible and adaptive: You?re someone who creates plans that will drive outcomes, but when plans change or a project goes in a new direction, you meet that moment with excitement to problem-solve and don?t lose sight of how the work connects to our overall mission.
? A strategic thinker, planner, and operator: Your approach to projects is to break it down into smaller, manageable pieces and ruthlessly prioritize what is most important. Additionally, you are adept at managing up, across and yourself. You use and develop systems to track progress, streamline communication and increase efficiency.
