This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely. It is not meant to encompass all duties. Serves as section leader overseeing section staff contributors such as senior tax auditors, program analysts, and operations and policy analysts to analyze, interpret and explain technical data, trends and reports related to the agency?s business tax programs. Recommends program action based on statistical findings, including application of relevant policies, statutes, administrative rules, and procedures relevant to tax administration. Proficient in using statistical software such as SQL, SAS, TARDIS, and other tools in conjunction with system data to produce analyses for the division. Develops project design, including necessary data collection and appropriate methods and tools of analysis, including appropriate levels of rigor necessary to result in confidence in the analysis. Identifies necessary resources and expertise, including consulting Research Section staff, other section management and staff, and external personnel, to successfully accomplish division and agency objectives. Presents technical reports and narrative summaries to a lay audience both verbally and in writing using tabular, graphic, or pictorial forms to inform the audience. Two of the three years must have included coordinating complex research projects. The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes: Demonstrates the ability to create clear reports and information from raw data, sometimes from multiple sources. Demonstrates proficiency gathering and analyzing data with PowerBI, SQL Server Management Studio (SQL), or their equivalent software. Experience presenting data to a variety of audience with differing levels of technical expertise. Demonstrates the ability to propose innovative solutions from raw data. Ability to create strategies for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of business processes. Ability to work collaboratively with other data experts across the agency.
