Reading Specialist / Orton Gillingham Tutor

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Orton-Gillingham Reading Tutor to provide individualized instruction to students with reading difficulties, including those with dyslexia. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Orton-Gillingham approach, exceptional teaching skills, and a passion for helping students achieve literacy success. Must have Orton-Gillingham training.

Key Responsibilities: ? Deliver individualized Orton-Gillingham-based reading instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels. ? Assess students' reading skills, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and develop tailored lesson plans. ? Implement multisensory teaching techniques to engage students in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills. ? Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction methods to meet evolving needs. ? Provide a supportive and encouraging learning environment to build students' confidence and motivation. ? Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to align tutoring sessions with students' overall learning goals. ? Stay current with Orton-Gillingham strategies, research, and best practices. ? Stay updated on best practices in education, including special education techniques for diverse learners.

Qualifications: ? Certification or training in the Orton-Gillingham approach (required). ? Bachelor?s degree in education, special education, or a related field (preferred). ? Previous experience working with students with dyslexia or other reading challenges (preferred). ? Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, families, and educators. ? Patience, empathy, and adaptability to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.

Preferred Skills:
? Familiarity with other structured literacy programs or approaches (e.g., Wilson, Barton).
? Knowledge of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and working with students with special needs.
? Proficiency in virtual teaching platforms, if offering remote instruction.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
