Duties And Responsibilities
Collaborate with students, parents, and fellow staff members to develop effective educational programs for all students.
Design and implement instructional strategies, activities, and materials that cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
Work closely with general education teachers to adapt curricula as outlined in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Prepare and execute goals and objectives established in student’s IEP meetings.
Conduct ongoing assessments to gauge student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
Utilize technology to enhance the learning experience and monitor student advancement.
Provide necessary personal care, medical assistance, or feeding as specified in students’ IEPs.
Employ positive behavior supports and crisis intervention strategies when required.
Offer interventions recommended by the Response to Intervention (RtI) team to general education students.
Assist in implementing RtI models, including providing guidance to general education teachers and maintaining progress records.
Foster a supportive classroom environment conducive to learning and holistic student development.
Maintain transparent communication channels with parents and uphold professional relationships with colleagues and community members.
Participate in professional development activities to refine job-related skills and stay updated on best practices.
Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Assignments To Virtual Instruction
In addition to the above responsibilities, virtual instruction assignments entail:
Integrating District-approved online platforms seamlessly into lesson planning and delivery.
Conducting virtual lessons and activities during standard and extended hours as necessary.
Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Adhering to professional responsibilities, deadlines, and dress code standards.
Translating District Best Practices into virtual instructional settings effectively.
Engaging in ongoing professional development relevant to virtual instruction.
Accurately reporting student data and attendance.
Creating a conducive virtual classroom environment and offering support to students facing challenges.
Supporting extracurricular activities according to District guidelines.
Attending all mandatory campus and District meetings.

Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Texas teaching certificate in special education.
Valid ESL certification.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Understanding of students’ special needs in the assigned area.
Familiarity with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and IEP goal setting.
Proficiency in curriculum development and instruction for the designated area.
Training in crisis prevention and behavioral intervention strategies.
Familiarity with positive behavioral supports
Supervisory Responsibilities
May supervise paraprofessionals if assigned.

The role may require maintaining emotional control under stress, as well as physical tasks such as standing, bending, and lifting. Exposure to biological hazards may occur.
