Position Overview:
The Volunteer Family Support Specialist will play a key role in supporting moms facing crisis situations by connecting them with essential resources, providing emotional support, and assisting in the coordination of educational programs. This position requires empathy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of families.
Key Responsibilities:
? Resource Coordination:
? Collaborate with community partners to identify and coordinate resources for moms in need, including food assistance… housing support, and educational opportunities.
? Maintain a comprehensive database of available resources and update information regularly.
? Emotional Support:
? Act as a compassionate and empathetic listener, offering emotional support to moms facing crisis situations.
? Provide information on available counseling services and mental health resources.
? Educational Empowerment:
? Assist in the planning and coordination of educational workshops and programs for moms, focusing on skill development and personal growth.
? Work with the education team to ensure that program content meets the needs of the target audience.
? Community Engagement:
? Engage with local community members and organizations to build a supportive network for moms in crisis.
? Represent the organization at community events and actively participate in outreach activities.
? Documentation and Reporting:
? Maintain accurate records of interactions with moms, ensuring confidentiality and privacy.
? Generate reports on resource utilization, program impact, and community engagement efforts.
Qualifications:
? Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals facing crisis situations.
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
? Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of individuals seeking support.
? Familiarity with community resources and social services.
? Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Time Commitment:
? Determined by volunteers availability.
Training:
? Volunteers will undergo comprehensive training on the organization’s mission, policies, and procedures.
? Training will be provided on resource coordination, emotional support, and educational program facilitation.
