Responsibilities
As a Lead Health Information Specialist, you will play a key role in processing medical record requests with precision and efficiency. Your responsibilities include maintaining the confidentiality and security of patient information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service. This intermediate-level position requires at least 1 year of related Health Information Management (HIM) experience.
Key Responsibilities
Process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies.
Safeguard patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
Create and maintain patient health records with attention to detail.
Respond to requests for patient records, both within the facility and from external sources.
Assist with additional administrative duties, such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry.
Provide training and mentorship to Health Information Specialists.
Generate reports for managers and facilities as directed.
Act as a lead in addressing general questions and assist with new hire training.
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 1 Year Of Health Information Related Experience.
Basic computer proficiency.
Strong data entry skills.
Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
2+ years of Health Information related experience.
In-person customer service experience.
Ability to build relationships with clients and customers.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Work is generally performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to unpleasant conditions. The position may require standing and sitting frequently, reaching horizontally and vertically, and using a telephone or headset equipment. Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required.
