Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Education Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the School Director and working under the guidance of the Director of Student Support, the Education Specialist will collaborate closely with the classroom Facilitator to support all students in a general education setting. This role involves working directly with students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) to provide specialized instruction and build strong relationships with the IEP team.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with the IEP Team for students with disabilities.

Provide targeted academic instruction based on the IEP, setting appropriate social, emotional, and educational goals for each student.

Manage and update IEPs throughout the school year to track and reflect students' progress towards their goals.

Collaborate with IEP Teams, including parents, facilitators, administrators, and the Care Team, to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments.

Design and adapt teaching strategies in partnership with General Education Facilitators to meet the needs of all students in an inclusive learning environment.

Monitor and document students' progress using appropriate assessment tools.

Maintain regular communication with parents to provide support and guidance.

Uphold classroom norms and enforce rules to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.

Stay current with best practices in special education and implement inclusive practices through co-teaching models.

Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.

Foster a climate of fairness, respect, and responsibility.

Utilize educational technology and participate in the Student Study Team (SST) process to recommend interventions.

Collaborate with facilitators and the CARE Team to provide accommodations and differentiate instruction as needed.

Essential Functions

Communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via computer.

Perform sedentary work involving sitting and standing.

Adapt to outdoor elements and make quick decisions when required.

Supervise and manage project tasks as needed.

Read and analyze detailed documentation and data.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with all required courses to meet credential requirements.

Appropriate Special Education licensure and credentials as established by state and local boards.

Successful completion of a student-teaching/internship program.

Experience in educating students with special needs.

Proven classroom and behavior management skills.

Knowledge of current special education practices, state, local, and federal regulations, and technology applications.
