Senior Software Engineer

Come build Artificial Intelligence in all aspects of financial experiences for global Microsoft employees and business partners. Our AI chatbot platform and customer service systems support over 75 business groups at Microsoft. Our team is working on improving financial experiences through connected enterprise scale distributed systems infused with Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning... Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Knowledge Graph capabilities. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be involved in designing, developing, and implementing AI, NLP, and Knowledge Graph systems using full stack of Azure and relevant open source technologies. Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements for a scenario. Leverage a variety of feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes. Ensure appropriate continuous feedback loops measuring customer value, usage patterns, and other actionable metrics of value are incorporated. Design ? Utilize prompt engineering and fine-tuning of foundational LLMs, machine learning algorithms, information retrieval techniques, and appropriate data structures to design solutions for customer scenarios. Use data driven approach to test design hypothesis. Incorporate Responsible AI guidelines in the design. Coding ? Review the code of a product to assure it meets the team's and Microsoft?s quality standards, is reliable and accurate, and is appropriate for the scale of the product/solution area. Apply feedback to current and future iterations. Participate in code reviews to ensure coding standards are followed. Consider diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability when reviewing code, and understand when code is ready to be shared or delivered. Apply and screen for coding patterns and best practices in reviews, and provide feedback on code to drive adherence to best practices. Implement ? Consider and drive comprehensive application of automation within production and deployment of a product. Run code in simulated or other non-production environments to confirm functionality and error-free runtime for products. Define and develop standardized, repeatable, scalable solutions to guarantee quality. ? Drive efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility. Create and assure the presence of visible evidence to demonstrate compliance for products. ? Remain current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments. Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends and technical solutions in AI. Embody our culture and values Qualifications Required Qualifications: ? Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in at least one language including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. ? OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements ? Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications ? Experience with Azure cloud. ? Demonstrated experience in applying AI techniques to real-world problems ? Experience working with popular ML and data science libraries such as Sci-Kit Learn, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib ? Experience developing / fine-tuning Large Language Models such as GPT, BERT, and other models available on platforms such as Hugging Face ? Experience with Reinforcement Learning ? Hands-on experience with deep learning / transformer architectures and traditional ML models deployed in real-world environments. ? Experience with one of the following Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras, or Hugging Face. ? Experience with practical AI deployment needs, especially MLOps and DataOps. ? Experience with cloud services

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
