Remote Senior Lead Service Technician
About the Company: Natural Gas Group Inc. is seeking a Remote Senior Lead Service Technician with extensive experience in troubleshooting, analysis, and maintenance of natural gas compressor units and related equipment. This remote position requires an expert in gas compressors and engines, with a focus on advanced troubleshooting, technical report writing, and leadership in the field. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring gas compressor units, performing complex diagnostics, and providing actionable solutions to ensure the operational integrity of our field units.
About the Role: The ideal candidate will have in-depth technical knowledge of equipment such as Caterpillar, Cummins, Waukesha Engines, and Ariel Compressors, as well as expertise in handling gas compression, electrical systems, and related equipment. They must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both in customer service and internal collaboration, and be able to produce detailed technical reports and communicate effectively in high-pressure troubleshooting situations.
Responsibilities: ? Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot gas compressor units and related equipment, providing efficient, effective, and timely solutions to field issues. ? Advanced Diagnostics & Repair: Perform advanced diagnostics and repair work on a variety of equipment, including Caterpillar, Cummins, and Waukesha Engines, as well as Ariel Compressors. Solve complex technical issues with minimal supervision. ? Technical Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed technical reports outlining findings, issues, and corrective actions, including but not limited to maintenance logs, performance evaluations, and field analysis. ? War Room Support: Participate in 'war room' troubleshooting sessions with internal teams to assess and resolve field issues in real-time. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions. ? Team Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for Field Service Technician Supervisors and District Managers regarding technical inquiries and field support. Maintain strong relationships and provide high-quality customer service and communication. ? Leadership & Mentorship: Lead by example in troubleshooting and repair tasks. Provide guidance and mentoring to junior technicians, assessing team performance and contributing to skills development. ? Innovation & Process Improvement: Regularly identify areas for process improvements, sharing innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and overall service delivery. ? Equipment Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of gas engines, compressors, electrical systems, and associated components, including skid wiring and panel boards. Stay current with maintenance standards and ensure accurate documentation is maintained. ? HSE Compliance: Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
Qualifications: ? Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Gas or diesel engine and compressor training (preferred). ? Certifications: Ariel Certification (preferred) Caterpillar Certification (preferred) ? Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience working with natural gas compressors and related equipment. Experience with large horsepower (HP) compressors is preferred. Proven history of successful, safe, and efficient service experience. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to oversee and mentor a team.
Required Skills:
? Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of Caterpillar, Cummins, Waukesha, and Ariel engines and compressors. Proficiency in vendor-specific programs such as Cat ET, Cat SIS, Waukesha ESP, Ariel Performance, Murphy Config Tool, and others. Strong computer skills, including experience with Google Chrome, Outlook, and other software tools.
? Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to read and understand work orders, manuals, and technical documentation. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
? Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of resolving complex issues independently. Ability to approach issues with resourcefulness, creativity, and efficiency.
? Ability to Work Remotely: Must be able to effectively work from home, utilizing remote communication tools, managing time efficiently, and maintaining high levels of productivity and organization.
? Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety management.
Pay range and compensation package: Depending on Experience $30.00 - $45.00
